Why is Alcohol so prominent in our society?

The reason that alcoholic liquids such as beer and wine are such a central part of our society is that they are flaunted and used constantly by the media. The media portrays alcohol as a cool method of relaxing and living life. Alcohol is falsely presented as a remedy to problems and as a vanquisher of troubled thoughts when in reality it adds to those problems and thoughts and the user could be seriously damaged. Alcohol should never be used to solve problems. Also, the media presents Alcohol as a way to loosen  up and loose your shyness when it actually affects your brain and guides you to decisions you never want to make.
